Pareidolia Part II

Pareidolia Part II, combines multiple layers of video, to convey the varying levels of the conscious and unconscious mind.
The video contains overlay of glitches, green screen edits and static, alongside visuals that have appeared in previous films by the artist. When combined with the audio of Binaural Beats, the viewer enters into an immersive and hallucinatory experience. The work makes particular reference to the l psychological phenomena of Pareidolia; where a pattern such as a face, is percieved where in fact there is none.

Pareidolia Part III

Pareidolia Part III also explores the psychological phenomenen of Pareidolia. The visuals within the work reference the Rorschach test, where subjects are asked to look at symmetrical patterns, traditionally ink blots, and are psychologically analysed based on what they see. Both Part I & II of Pareidolia are layered within the video to create complex and ambigous visuals; representing the complexity of the mind.
The narrative within the work has been created through the surrealist tradition of automatic writing. This has been cropped and edited to create an audio that is both familiar and abstract. This, when placed alongside the calming music that appears throughout the work, further immerses the viewer into a different state of mind.
