Two part video installation with Audio ( Duration - 3:58 / 3:00 )
Selected Exhibitions: Cross Year
For A Conversation, Sorcha explores repressed thoughts and memories with particular reference to her own personal experiences of body image, destructive relationships and anxiety.
The first part of the work, Broken Reality, contains a fluctuated timeframe to represent the overwhelming nature of anxious thought and how it can often disrupt daily routine. Words such as 'end' and 'begin' float in and out of the frame whilst the visuals are disrupted between darkness and light, disorientating the viewer.
The second part of the work, Tingling Skin, overlays sensuous perfume adverts with footage of Sorcha's body, to visually explore the onset of anxiety through body image and experiences of personal relationships. Automatic writing is used as an additional element to represent subconscious thoughts that can emerge as a result.
Both videos use a disrupted piano audio and are displayed facing each other as if in conversation. Over time the videos slowly become out of sync and disjointed to represent the confusion of thoughts over time.
